Freeza (フリーザ, Furīza), known as Frieza in the Funimation dub, is a prince of the Frost Demon Empire of Universe 8, a universe where the Z-Fighters perished and Freeza and his family remained supreme rulers of the universe. A cruel tyrant, he is feared throughout the universe for his unparalleled cruelty and incredible power. He is the youngest son of King Cold and the younger brother of Coola.

He is one of the main antagonists of Dragon Ball, and one of the series' most prominent and recurring villains. Freeza rules Universe 8 along with his "father" and brother.

    Appearance[]

Freeza has the exact same appearance just like his canon counterpart in the manga and anime. Throughout the series, he mainly employs two forms among the masses for official business.

In his Third Restriction Form, Freeza is quite short (being shorter than Vegeta) who is shown to constantly levitate inside of his hover chair. Freeza has pink skin that his segmented over the majority of his body, while possessing purple skin only on his feet, hands, neck, and face. Freeza wears natural bio-armor over his chest, ankles, and forearms, which is white that has either bio-gems (shoulders and abdomen) or segmented designs (forearms and ankles) adorning them. Freeza's tail has a purple, extended tip, while his face has serrated tear-marks between his eyes and ears. Lastly, Freeza has two horizontal horns on his head while a huge bio-gem sits on the apex of his cranium. Freeza usually wears armor over this form and if he wears a scouter, it is red.[1]

When in his True Form, Freeza greatly resembles his first form overall, but noticeable differences take place. The most dramatic change is Freeza's new skin color design, which becomes pure white as purple bio-gems adorn his ankles, forearms, shoulders, abdomen, and head. Freeza's tear-marks become much thinner, as he completely loses the horns on his head. Freeza's muscular mass is also slightly more bigger compared to his first form.

    Personality[]

Freeza of Universe 8 has the same personality traits as seen in the canon manga and the anime. Like his father and brother, Freeza is an extremely cruel and ruthless tyrant, though unlike most primary antagonists, Freeza displays a civilized and refined demeanor, talking with a regal and eloquent nature due to his status as royalty. He tends to handle most situations with a systematic approach. He commonly utilizes dark humor, making twisted jokes and tasteless mockery of his foes before killing them. Additionally, like most of his family, Freeza was known to sometimes kill his soldiers for extremely trivial reasons. Because of this, Freeza is very infamous across the universe and he, himself, is aware of this and doesn’t deny it.

Freeza is shown to be a perfectionist, expecting nothing less from his soldiers as any failure in his eyes will be met with extreme punishment, if not death. Even more, he has absolutely no qualms with slaughtering his own forces, no matter how loyal to him, simply for being in his way, as seen from when he destroyed Planet Vegeta despite most of his men being within the trajectory. He also reacts violently to criticism or if his pride is abashed.

At his core, Freeza shows pleasure in death, power, dominance and control. He is one of the most sadistic and megalomaniacal beings in the known universes, without any sympathetic or redeeming traits, being a complete psychopath.

Befitting of his status and power, Freeza is extremely arrogant, holding himself in the highest regard. Additionally, Freeza has complete confidence in his abilities, commonly referring to his foes as lower life-forms such as insects and often takes the opportunity to mock them, such as handicapping himself to make the fight more amusing to himself. For much of his life, Freeza was viewed as among the most powerful beings in the universe. Because of this, Freeza believes no one can challenge his authority. Owing to his arrogance, Freeza generally refrains from fighting his foes and instead send his minions to deal with them, only personally confronting his opponents when forced to do so. Because he was already among the strongest in the universe since birth, Freeza had never physically trained before until his encounter with Goku, which motivated him to train in order to permanently sustain his true form in order to avoid the situation happening in the future.

Despite his enormous arrogance, Freeza does not totally disregard potential threats to his rule, to the point of paranoia. Freeza eradicated nearly the entire Saiyan race once even their low-level warriors began to show strength comparable to his elite soldiers. The Saiyans' growing strength made him concerned about the possibility of a revolution and added to his nagging fear of the Super Saiyan legend. Upon discovering that Ginyu was still alive and among his men, Freeza’s paranoia began to consume him as his mind raced with every possibility of who Ginyu could now be.

Freeza is fond of music and likes listening to Figrindan Classic Rhythm, though dislikes Figrindan Classical Symphony. He also enjoyed the music Zen Buu played at the beginning of the second round.

It is shown that he still has a strong sibling rivalry with his older brother, Coola. Their hostility towards with each other is shown when in the novelization of the series, when Coola was heavily drinking after his defeat at the hands of Trunks, Freeza took the opportunity to insult his older brother, going as far as to make fun of him for being infertile, only to be stopped by his father from harassing him even further.

Uniquely, Freeza seems to have a bad memory surrounding Goku. Upon confronting him in Universe 8, he had forgotten everything about him.[2] Years later during the first night of the first round, Freeza admitted to Gohan that he recognizes nobody in Universe 18 save for Vegeta, appearing truthful in his statement.[3] And upon fighting against Goku in the Third Round, Freeza gives absolutely no indication that they have met before back in his own universe,[4] though it’s possible he lied to Gohan and simply doesn’t want to acknowledge Goku due to the massive destruction their first encounter caused, which caused his capital planet to fall to ruin.

    History[]

    Birth[]

Freeza was born in Age 570 as a prince of the Frost Demon Royal Family.[1] He was birthed solely by King Cold, whom returned to his original form to proceed with his laboring. When Freeza was finally born, the entire planet was destroyed in the process after multiple days where the planet suffered from catastrophic events.

    Discipline[]

    Freeza Vs Coola

    Freeza fights Coola

In Age 623, both Freeza and Coola (while both were in their second reduction forms) were fighting against each other on their father's capital planet. When a stalemate finally occurs and Coola calls Freeza arrogant, Freeza angrily tells Coola he is wrong and demands to have a equal portion of the universe since they are now both equals. When Coola ridicules Freeza for not being able to control his True Form yet, Freeza proposes they fight in their original forms, but was immediately "bonked" on the head by King Cold.[5]

    King Cold Disciplining His Sons

Freeza is scolded by his father

As King Cold also hits Coola, he angrily calls Freeza and Coola morons and continues to ridicule them for fighting without his permission, threatening to use their true forms, and battling on his capital planet. While telling his sons that it is he who controls which parts of the universe they get to conquer, both Coola and Freeza look on while being utterly embarrassed.[6]

    Alliance With The Saiyans[]

In Age 731, Freeza was the first to answer the call from the Saiyan race once King Vegeta lifted the communications embargo. He immediately hires them to attack other planets to wipe out the indigenous people like how they eradicated the Tsufuls. Some time after, Freeza would read the notes of his grandfather, which demanded that under no circumstance should the royal family approach the Saiyans’ planet while also describing a terrifying Super Saiyan, though Freeza only laughs at this, as he believes that he is too powerful to be opposed.[1]

    Planet Vegeta's Destruction[]

    Freeza World Conquest

Freeza’s absolute control over Planet Vegeta

In Age 737, Freeza will finally destroy Planet Vegeta.[1] This is due to them being disobedient and showing no loyalty, plus their more violent than what their worth. In addition, the rumors regarding Broly's unparallel power begins to make Freeza paranoid since it has been a millennium since the last Super Saiyan came.[1]

    Freeza And Generals

    Freeza with Zarbon and Dodoria

Right before Freeza blew up Planet Vegeta, Freeza had a strategic meeting with both Zarbon and Dodoria on his spaceship. Admitting that he likes the strength of the Saiyans but their inability to obey is too much and has decided to put an end to them. When Zarbon confirms that most of the Saiyans should be on their home planet within ten days, Freeza becomes very interested in it and requests which Saiyans won't be on it and who the strongest Saiyans alive. Zarbon immediately informs Freeza that three units will be missing; Baddack's team on Planet Kanassa, Prince Vegeta and Nappa on Planet Freeza 68, and Harik's team on Planet Steak.[7] Dodoria chimes in that the strongest is King Vegeta, his two bodyguards, Nappa, Baddack, and Hanasia, with the last two having the potential of reaching twenty thousand units in battle strength. When Dodoria also mentions that Prince Vegeta likely has the same potential, Freeza admits to liking the little prince before giving the order that Harik's team must return to Planet Vegeta immediately. When learning that Baddack's team has a female member, he becomes displeased since he wishes to exterminate the Saiyan race forever.[8]

    Freeza Dark Plan

Freeza plots to destroy Planet Vegeta

When Zarbon asks if he should cancel their mission or have it delayed for a few weeks, Freeza declines since it would look too suspicious. As Dodoria deduces that they'll keep Prince Vegeta and Nappa alive, Zarbon proposes that they should keep some young Saiyans alive and suggests the sons of Baddack and Hanasia so that they can be manipulated without other Saiyan influence. Liking it, Freeza agrees and demands to have a 'secret' trip to Planet Vegeta. Concocting a lie, Freeza tells his generals that officially the planet would have a collision with a meteor to cover it all up.[9]

    Freeza Alerted About Coola

Freeza is alerted of Coola’s arrival

As Planet Vegeta explodes while the pod of Goku solely escapes from the destruction, Freeza continues to watch the detonation until Zarbon informs him that Coola's spaceship was spotted nearby. Immediately angered, Freeza openly questions on why Coola was found inside of his own territory.[10] When they see Coola leaving the premise, Freeza begrudgingly forgives him and orders his men to head back home.[11]

    Quest on Namek, Without Vegeta[]

    Freeza on Namek

    Freeza arrives on Planet Namek

Sometime in Age 762[12], Freeza and his team overheard Vegeta's plans on Planet Earth and decided to head to Planet Namek to attain their Dragon Balls. When Gohan, Kulilin, and Bulma arrive, they see the destruction Freeza has caused on the Namekian people since the Frost Demon sought to attain immortality. Despite how powerful Dodoria and Zarbon was, Freeza's power level was at a whole different level.[13] As Goku was set to arrive within six days, the Earthlings managed to save Dende despite Dodoria claiming to have killed them, Suspicious, Freeza orders him to get their bodies as proof.[14]

    Freeza Ordering Zarbon

    Freeza with Zarbon

Later on in his spaceship, Freeza informs Zarbon that he has called the Ginyu Force. Not only will they arrive in about five days, but they'll also possess new scouters for them to use. Annoyed at how useless both Dodoria and Apple are, he orders Zarbon to seek out the remaining Namekian villages as he alone guards the Dragon Balls. Zarbon obliges to carry out his new order.[15]

    Get the Dragon Balls Back[]

"Demon! You killed my family, I will destroy you!! You'll regret having brought this senseless slaughter on my people!!"
    — Nail, in "Universe 8: Get the Dragon Balls back"

    Freeza Attacking Nail

    Freeza attacking Nail

The next day[16], Freeza was in his ship when Nail attacked it with energy blasts.[17] Hearing Nail's proclamation to kill him, Freeza emerges and is enraged that his ship is broken. Promising to make him pay, Freeza flies to Nail and delivers a brutal punch to his stomach, also telling him that his demise will be slow and painful.[18] Knocking Nail around that draws out his own blood, Freeza continues to assault him as Nail desperately tries to defend himself.[19] Seeing a opening, Nail blasts the ground before Freeza as he tries to fly away. Unharmed, Freeza calmly points out the obvious before asserting that he won't escape since he's not finished with him yet.[20]

    Freeza Defeating Nail

    Freeza defeats Nail

As Nail tries to hide behind a rock to catch his breath, he is forced to flee as the spot is blown up by a Death Beam. Finger still smoking, Freeza ominously tells Nail that he won't escape from his fate.[21] With Nail on the ground and beaten, Freeza calmly asks him that he can live a bit longer if he gives him the last Dragon Ball. Before he could finish speaking, Freeza hears from Nail that he doesn't understand a single thing.[22] Standing back up, Nail tells Freeza that he'll never have his wish due to how monstrous he is. Having enough, Freeza tells him to die and fires his Eye Lasers technique on him, causing a small explosion.[23]

    FurizaNamek

Freeza preparing to destroy Planet Namek

As Nail's broken body falls into the nearby lake, Freeza tells himself that he'll need to get a replacement ship. Believing that Zarbon is also dead, Freeza calls him and his men incompetents.[24] With Nail slowly drowning at the bottom of the lake, Freeza is unaware at the success Gohan's group is having with the Dragon Ball collecting. Now back inside of his own ship, Freeza agitating inspects the ship and notes that it still fly. Cursing the Namekian for trying such a foolish attack on his quarters, he begins to insult the entire Namekian race for having such stubborn tendencies to oppose his ruling. Freeza quickly becomes shocked soon afterwards.[25] Noticing all his Dragon Ball are gone, Freeza begins to visibly panic. Flying around the planet at top speed, Freeza is unable to find anyone due to how large Planet Namek really is.[26] When the entire planet suddenly becomes dark due to Porunga's summoning, Freeza deduces that they have all the Dragon Balls and hates it since immortality is his alone. Creating a Death Ball, Freeza vows to kill everyone since they've greatly humiliated him.[27]

    Freeza Destroying Namek

    Freeza destroying Planet Namek

As Gohan's group prepares to make their wish, Freeza angrily throws his Death Ball towards the ground.[28] As the Death Ball strikes the surface, a immense explosion occurs that quickly begins to wipe out everything in existence on the planet. Gohan and everyone else by him was completely engulfed as the planet nearly explodes the the sheer energy enveloping it. Now all alone on a barren planet, Freeza mocks them for testing his patience before he erupts in dark laughter.[29]

    The Two Last Survivors[]

    Freeza done with Namek

    Freeza departs from Planet Namek

As Planet Namek is consumed in fire while total system failure occurs around the globe, Freeza darkly smiles to himself since he admits he was a bit reckless. Pleased though that nobody will likely not be able to survive on the planet anymore, Freeza quickly scans the situation and is glad that his ship can endure such a attack. Pleased to be done with Planet Namek, he tells himself that he never again wants to hear about this story ever again.[30] Unknown to Freeza, Goku arrives on Planet Namek four days later.[31]

    Freeza in Spaceship

Freeza returns to Vunvennly to confront Goku

Several days later, Goku and Nail goes to the general location Freeza is at, which is Vunnvenly, his capital planet.[32] Deep in outer space within his spaceship, Freeza is informed by a messenger that his capital planet is being attacked by both a Saiyan and Namekian. Finding it ridiculous since both species should be extinct, Freeza becomes agitated as the messenger persists that the news is true. Ordering the ship to return back to the capital, Freeza vows to make the “author of this bad joke" pay severely.[33]

The Tyrant Freeza must be Stopped[]

"You've pushed me to my limit, you miserable vermin..."
    — Freeza, in "U8 - The tyrant Freeza must be stopped!!"

    Goku Vs First Form Freeza

    Freeza is overwhelmed by Goku

On January 1st, Age 763, Freeza later arrives to his capital planet to deal with the intruders as Goku was fighting Ginyu.[34] Leaving the ship and facing Goku in the air, Freeza hears him admitting that his power level surpasses the others by far. Slightly taken back for different reasons, Freeza wonders who he is and concludes that he must be Raditz's brother. Remembering that he sent him to a forgettable planet, and has subsequently forgotten all about him, he's shocked that he defeated the entire Ginyu Force and is therefore much stronger than Vegeta. Wondering if he's a Super Saiyan, Freeza concludes that he was right to completely exterminate the entire Saiyan race before hearing Goku telling him that they should move to avoid hurting those living in the city. Annoyed since they won't be fighting because Freeza desires to execute him in one shot, Freeza immediately fires his Death Beam at him.[35] Powering up via Kaio-ken, Goku avoids the Death Beam before kicking Freeza in the chin. Appearing above a dazed Freeza, Goku double hammers him into the ground below.[36]

    Goku Vs Second Form Freeza

    Freeza blasted by Goku

Stunned on the ground, Freeza finds the entire situation to be impossible as Goku merely watches him. Standing up as his armor falls off, Freeza promises Goku that he will know Hell before fully transforming into his Second Restriction state. As Goku becomes shocked, Freeza smiles sinisterly at his nemesis.[37] Laughing while flying towards Goku, Freeza tries to throw a punch at his face. Still being much faster, Goku dodges it before releasing a Kamehameha at point-blank range.[38] Sent flying away before crashing into the countryside, Freeza is covered in light bruises while finding the entire situation to be impossible. As Goku lands before him, Freeza begins to transform again.[39]

    Goku Vs Third Form Freeza

    Freeza overwhelmed by Goku

Completing his transformation into his First Restriction Form, Freeza tells Goku that he's pushed him to his limit and will make him pay. Firing a single Death Bullet and hitting Goku in the face, Freeza is surprised he survived that and admits that the battle is now becoming frustrating.[40] Struct in the chest by Goku using the Kaio-ken again, Freeza tries to swipe him, but Goku uses his tail to kick him in the back of the head.[41] When his hand strike misses again, Freeza takes a Kamehameha at point-blank range as another immense explosion takes root.[42] Lying on the ground as Goku tells him he's lost and will only be spared if he promises to hurt no one else, Freeza stands up and finds the situation unbelievable. Powering up again, Freeza transforms into his True Form which creates another large explosion.[43]

    Goku Vs True Form Freeza

    Freeza attacking Goku

Immediately pointing his finger at Goku, Freeza charges a large Death Cannon that forces Goku to power up to his max. Cursing out Goku and wishing for him to die, Freeza fires his attack.[44] With the beam heading towards the city, Goku does his best to hold it at bay.[45] Being too much, both Goku and the vast majority of civilians were killed in the blast.[46] Arriving to the location where the Ginyu Force is located, needing a scapegoat to vent his own anger and put the blame on the cities destruction, Freeza begins to yell at them. As Ginyu puts the blame on himself, Freeza fires a near-fatal Death Beam through his chest.[47] Telling Ginyu that he's done dancing and the surviving members will need a new name for their squad, he orders them to burn Ginyu's body. Once alone, Freeza vows to never be taken by surprise again and will train to hold his True Form indefinitely.[48]

    Frost Demon Digital Meeting

    Freeza meeting with family

Two weeks later when Nemokid (in reality Ginyu) reports that the planet assigned has been conquered, though many causalities occurred, Freeza tells him that he’s satisfied, though too busy preoccupied with training his mind; he orders him to leave, which further infuriates Ginyu.[49] After several years have passed[50], Ginyu has successfully taken over the body of King Cold. Making sure that the meetings between his "sons" were cordial and as infrequent as possible, both Freeza and Coola never suspected anything.[51]

    Other Events[]

At some point in Age 794, Freeza alongside Ginyu, Coola, and their soldiers were approached by the Organizers of Universe 1 to join the Multiverse Tournament. They ultimately accepted and were brandished underneath the moniker of "Universe 8".

    Multiverse Tournament[]

Jeece, in "Lots of old foes here!"

    U8 27

    Freeza with his "father"

Freeza first appears when Goten and Trunks from Universe 18 notice his presence among the competition. Seemingly being by himself, Freeza proudly stands with his arms folded while smirking to the side.[52] Upon noticing the presence of Universe 18 and seeing Goten and Trunks run off, Freeza instantly shows his disgust for another group of Saiyans appearing. Freeza then listens to his "father" that this scum should be eliminated everywhere and it unfortunate that many Frost Demons are missing.[53] Freeza's immediate attention is caught when Coola's proclaims that all of the universes shall be theirs soon since they've found Namekians willing to let others to use their Dragon Balls.[54] Freeza is seen again (along with his family and certain henchmen) when Gohan is noting all of the dangers present in the tournament.[55]

    Freeza Challenging Jeece

    Freeza’s quick victory against Jeece

In the first round, Freeza is matched up with one of his own elite henchmen, Jeece, in the second fight of the entire tournament. With knowledge of Freeza's terrifying power and cruelty, in addition receiving a nasty smirk from the Frost Demon, Jeece immediately forfeits the match to escape certain death.[56][57]

First Round - Two Universes in Bad Luck[]

    Coola Beaten

Freeza witnesses Coola's loss to Trunks

Freeza and his "father" is later seen to be in both fright and awe as his brother Coola was easily being beaten by Trunks of Universe 12, being the first time they've ever witnessed a true Super Saiyan.[58] Freeza was shocked once again when Coola's unconscious body falls into his universe's balcony.[59]

    Spectating the First Round[]

Freeza was later mortified when he witnessed Cell using his Barrage Death Beam technique while fighting Dabra.

During the lunch break, Freeza is shown to be drinking with his family as their henchmen dine on another table.

During the battle between Vegetto and Broly, both Freeza and his family were utterly shocked by the explosion caused by their fists. When both used their signature techniques, Freeza along with everybody else in universe 8 braces for imminent impact. When Vegetto becomes a Super Saiyan 3, Freeza slowly begins to levitate as the other members begin to panic. When Vegetto is finally declared the victor, Freeza is utterly slack-jawed by complete awe along with his family.

As the tournament committee prepares for the next round after Vegetto's match, Freeza nervously tells his father that they may be outclassed, with Coola complying though he believes it is impossible. Somewhat regaining his bravado, Freeza leans in and tells his father that their ultimate goal is to have the dragon balls, and not the tournament itself.

When his father was called to fight Videl, Freeza was utterly surprised when he transforms into his third form. When he hears his father talking about ascending to his original form, both Freeza and Coola were awestruck with the former voicing that he has never seen his true form besides in picture. Freeza then listens to Coola's revelation on how his father gave birth to him so many years ago. When his father finally won his match, Freeza and Coola are amazed to see their father up close in his original form, and surprised that he now able to perfectly control himself.

When the first round officially concluded while dinner was being served, Freeza tells his family that the organizers have several sets of dragon balls. Freeza then boldly proclaims that all of them will be in their possession.

    A Good Night's Sleep[]

At the end of the first round, all competitors go to their sleeping quarters, and Freeza and his family members are plotting to steal the Dragon Balls under the cloak of darkness. Freeza denies Butta's offer to search for them, and Cold orders Freeza and Coola to check different wings on the opposite sides of the Vargas' tower. Freeza manages to search mostly unhindered, and while examining a safe, he is discovered by Buu.

Buu advises Freeza that searching is meaningless, because the Vargas were smart enough to hide the Dragon Balls in another universe. He then asks Freeza if someone else in his squads had the ability to change bodies, which Freeza nervously denies. Buu proceeds to reveal that someone from Universe 8 is not in their original body. When Freeza demands their identity, Buu leaves Freeza to discover the infiltrator.

    Second Round[]

    Freeza, extremely angry at Nappa

"I'll kill you in a minute, arrogant monkey."
    — Freeza, in A good night's sleep

During the morning of the second round, Freeza stayed inside of his spaceship and reflected over who Captain Ginyu might have changed into, running through most of the Ginyu Force and soldiers.

Shortly before the announcement of their match, Nappa arrived and started mocking Freeza, pushing the tyrant's buttons to enrage him. When the match began, Nappa immediately surrendered, forcing Freeza to relent or else his entire universe would be disqualified for attacking a surrendering opponent. When Freeza returned to his space, Butta naively asked his master if he was alright. Freeza proceeded to kill him with a single swipe of his arm. Freeza then argued with the Vargas near his space, claiming that the kill should be legit due to it being from his own universe, and that Butta had no more matches anyway.

After witnessing Cell's victory against Bojack, Coola notes that Cell has a resemblance to their family, only to be dismissed by Freeza.

    Third Round[]

    Freeza deceiving Goku

The third round is against Son Goku (Universe 18) against Freeza. Piccolo says that it's a legendary face-off reborn, but Vegeta says that it will be over in two seconds. Freeza asks Goku to go to "his place" with him. Goku accepts, but is presented with a tricky technique of Freeza's, granted to him by Buu in a dream. Freeza creates an illusionary world in their minds. Goku states it is no problem to him, and they begin fighting. Soon after, however, Goku begins to suffocate, as there is almost no oxygen in Freeza's world. Freeza states that Goku is getting rapidly older here, as Goku already aged 20 years. Goku quickly turns Super Saiyan 3, but is unable to maintain it and immediately reverts to his base form. Freeza blasts him with a Death Beam, as Goku is getting weaker and ages.

As Goku's movements begin to slow down, Freeza charges a Death Ball. Just before he can throw it, Goku teleports in front of him, and blasts him in the head with a Kamehameha. The illusion wears off, and Goku's youth is restored; however, Freeza refuses to admit defeat. Goku turns Super Saiyan, and knocks Freeza out in one hit. Freeza loses, which allows Goku to move on in the tournament.

    The Hunt for Ginyu[]

Freeza later watches King Cold battle Bra, and cheers his father on as Cold managed to evade Bra's strongest energy attack. However, after Cold ends up being defeated by Bra, Freeza saw 'Cold' switching bodies with Bra, and he realised that Ginyu was posing as Cold the whole time.

    FurizaaCoola

Bra, now trapped in Cold's burficated body, tries to get the Namekian healer to heal her. However, Freeza stops the healer, preferring to have 'Cold' sent to the healing chamber instead. Both he and Coola carry 'Cold' back into the ship to get treated. Dismissing the doctors, Freeza revealed to his brother in private of Ginyu's deception, to Coola's shock. He confirms Coola's fears that Ginyu is now inhabiting Bra's body, and that their father was likely killed by Ginyu a long time ago. Vegetto uses Instand Transmission to teleport to where Freeza and Coola are keeping Bra in a healing tank. Freeza states to Vegetto that they share an enemy. Before Freeza could voice another thought, he along with Coola were effortlessly swatted aside by Vegetto's might. After a brief battle against Ginyu, Vegetto finally gets Bra back into her original body by tricking Ginyu. As Coola and Freeza recovers from Vegetto's previous attack, Coola lashes out on Vegetto, but misses due to Vegetto teleporting himself and Bra away before he could hit them. Coola, along with his brother, are subsequently possessed by Babidi. Sometime later, a possessed Freeza and Coola order a Namekian to heal Ginyu.

    Majin Invasion[]

"Handle the spectators! And we'll take care of the temperamental universes..."
    — Majin Freeza, in "Babidi's trap"

Freeza, along with his father, brother, and subordinates, invade the entire stadium and keep everyone as hostages. Freeza and Coola are challenged by Piccolo and are ultimately defeated by him after a long struggle.

    A Vision of the Future[]

Freeza appears in one of Baddack's future visions during his match against Baddack. There he states that Captain Ginyu is still alive while levitating in his hover car.

    Power & Abilities (Pre-Multiverse Tournament)[]

Freeza for most of history was just as strong in the same points of time as his canon counterpart until Age 763.

    Rivalry with Coola[]

    Freeza Forgiving Coola

    Freeza reluctantly forgives Coola

In Age 623 after an intense battle against Coola on King Cold's capital planet, Freeza boldly proclaims that they’re equals when in their Second Restriction Forms. Coola however states he's still superior since he can control his True Form while Freeza cannot. However, a single strike from King Cold in the same state forced Freeza to become servient to his wishes of no longer fighting.[5][6]

In Age 737, Coola made an unauthorized appearance in Freeza's territory after he destroyed Planet Vegeta.[10] Luckily for Freeza, Coola left without incident, which made Freeza to forgive him this one time.[11] This was very fortunate since in Universe 9, that version of Freeza was easily killed by Coola since he was in three lower transformations.[60]

    Power & Abilities (Multiverse Tournament)[]

As one of the most powerful beings in his entire universe, Freeza was selected by the organizers of Universe 1 to participate in the Multiverse Tournament in Age 794.

Due to his training to control his energy, Freeza has made significant progress in his growth by learning to fully control his True Form without any drawbacks.[48][49]

    Tournament - First Round[]

    Freeza Vs Jeece

    Freeza Vs Jeece

When Freeza was called to face Jeece, the commando immediately forfeited to escape a embarrassing lost against his leader.[56][57]

Thus Jeece is absolutely no match against Freeza at any capacity.

    First Round - Statements[]

    Ginyu and Freeza Shocked

    Freeza absolutely shocked

Trunks considers Freeza to be among the many "monsters" his predecessors fought in the past.[52] Gohan also considers him to be very dangerous.[55] Feeling far more superior, Emperor Vegeta expressed his desire to kill Freeza a second time.[61]

Despite all of his great power, Freeza is still awed and amazed by superior strength if he witnesses it firsthand. This was first displayed when Trunks became a Super Saiyan and made quick work of Coola.[58][59]

    Tournament - Third Round[]

Thanks to Buu, Freeza was able to create an illusionary world to trap both him and his opponent. Under this illusionary world, time passes rapidly within seconds. As his species continuously grow in power as they age, Freeza's power gradually increases as well. He was thus able to keep up with an aged and handicapped Super Saiyan 2 Goku, but was ultimately defeated by a point-blank Kamehameha.

    Author Comments[]

Salagir mentions that Freeza is not necessarily in his final form because he was never pushed that far, but possibly because he did not want to take on a weaker appearance than his brother when the Multiverse Tournament began.[62]

Salagir has also stated that the residents of Universe 8 had never witnessed a Super Saiyan prior to Trunks' transformation in his fight against Coola.[63]

As stated by Salagir, Freeza most likely didn't age due to having a 1,000 year life expectancy and possessing state-of-the-art technology.[64]

    Techniques[]

Flight: The ability to levitate by manipulating one's ki. Freeza has used this multiple times over the course of his life.[35]

Eye Laser: A potent blast of energy fired from the eyes. Used to defeat Nail during Freeza's conquest on Planet Namek.[23]

Death Beam: Also known as Freeza Beam, this is Freeza's favored killing technique. He extends one arm and fires a small, bullet-like beam of ki from his index finger that drills through the opponent. It is able to be fired very quickly while maintaining precise aim. Freeza used this against Nail to snuff him out of his hiding spot.[21] Upon confronting Goku, Freeza uses this to try to execute him.[35] After his capital was ruined, Freeza used it to mortally wound Ginyu in the chest.[47]

    • Death Bullet: A specialized version of the Death Beam that explodes instead of piercing. When in the First Restriction Form, Freeza uses this against Goku.[40]
    • Barrage Death Beam: A rapid-fire version of the Death Beam. Freeza first hinted at this when Cell used it against Dabra during the first round. Freeza properly used it against his match against Goku during the Third Round.

Death Cannon: A powerful energy wave usually fired from a open palm. Freeza used a variant where he charges the attack through a finger that magnified several times over that ultimately killed Goku and destroyed his capital.[44][45][46]

Death Ball: Freeza lights a spark of energy on his index finger. Once enough energy is gathered, this spark may grow to the size of a small moon and is thrown towards the target. Typically, this attack is used to destroy planets or as a last-ditch effort to kill an opponent. Freeza used it to cause heavy damage to Planet Namek after his Dragon Balls were stolen.[27][28][29] He later uses it during his fight with Goku in the third round, even displaying the ability to fire multiple blasts back to back.

    • Supernova: Freeza raises his finger and gathers their energy in the form of a giant yellow orange, sun-like energy sphere. Once it is ready, Freeza launches the attack against the target. Like the normal Death Ball, it is mostly used to destroy planets, or as a last ditch-effort to kill an enemy. Obviously used to destroy Planet Vegeta in Age 737.[10][11]

Psychokinesis: A technique that allows one to manipulate objects or people with the power of one's own mind. As noted by Ginyu, Freeza is particularly skilled in this department, which assisted him in deflecting Babidi's possession the longest among the Frost Demons from his universe. He once used this to crush Butta's skull in an instant out of frustration after being angered by Nappa's insults.

    • "My Place": A heightened mental power granted to Freeza thanks to Zen Buu's intervention via dream probing. When in effect, it allows Freeza to alter the environment in the eyes of him and his opponents, creating harsh weather conditions (freezing cold and heavy winds), a very low amount of oxygen (which will suffocate most foes), and accelerated aging (Goku and Freeza aged 20 years in several seconds while in the environment). Two major drawbacks is that the opponent must agree for the invitation to be transported and any damage that occurs in the illusionary world doesn't reflect in actuality.

    Techniques (non-canon)[]

Multiverse Destroying Explosion: Majin Perfect Freeza claimed that he would explode himself to destroy the planet, universe, and multiverse.[65]

Killer Ball: Freeza puts the palms of his hands together in front of his chest and brings them apart as he forms a pink energy sphere. Then, he raises it upward and charges it with more power, changing it into a red and orange energy sphere and making it bigger and more powerful with additional streaks of black electricity. Finally, he fires the attack at the opponent, inflicting a massive amount of damage. When thrown into a planet, it is shown that it tunnels into the ground until it destroys the planet's core. Freeza, just calling it "Death Ball", uses this in a minicomic where he is so frustrated at Saiyans that he blows up the entire arena. Only he nd his family survives.[66] Also called the Destroy The Planet or the Planet Destroying Death Ball.

    Transformations[]

    Third Restriction Form[]

    Furiza First

    Freeza's Third Restricted Form

In his Third Restriction Form, Freeza is at his shortest, child-like in stature and likewise youthful face. He has a large chestnut-shaped skull with two straight horns that protrude at an angle. He also has a tail with a spiked end, which is relatively thick in width, as well as having three talon-like possible toes for feet. In this state he has purple sections on his head, shoulders, and abdomen. He has pink parts with lines appear on his arms, legs, and cheeks as well as his lilac skin on his face, feet, and hands. He has wristbands and ankle bands with brown sections with lines on the front. He also has a white natural armor covering his chest and shoulders. He has red eye pupils and large dark red lips.

Freeza used this form for almost all of his appearances before his battle against Goku. After discarding it, Freeza has stopped using it in favor of his Original Form.

    Second Restriction Form[]

    Furiza Second

Freeza transforming into his Second Restricted Form

His Second Restriction Form appears as a more-mature version to the Third Restriction Form. It is his tallest form, towering over Goku, and his muscle mass grows equally larger, sporting a bulkier and more-defined build. His face also has a more angled jaw-line and sharper nose while his horns grow longer and curve sharply upwards into near right angles. Its overall appearance is similar to his father, King Cold, when he's in the same state. The sheer power it produces cannot contain his armor, causing it shatter apart in a violent manner and leaving his body fully exposed.

This form has only been shown twice in the entire series. First time when he challenged Coola in their father's capital planet in Age 623. The last time was against Goku in Age 762.

    First Restriction Form[]

    FurizaRestrictedForm

    Freeza's First Restricted Form

Freeza's First Restriction Form is the most brutish and imposing of them all, with an extremely elongated skull. His facial features contort and change, with his nose melding into his mouth to form a crude beak. His original horns recede and are now white in color, erupting in pairs along the length of his head. Two pairs of spikes grow out of his back and curve upward, and the armor on his shoulders fling themselves outward like shoulder pads. He stands upright with a slight hunch, giving a more feral demeanor to him.

The only time Freeza has used this form was to battle against Goku in Age 762. Ginyu has revealed that Freeza occasionally uses this form to terrorize his own subjects.[67]

    CH6-Freeza

    Freeza's true form

    True Form[]

This is Freeza's most prominent state. It is the form that Freeza was born in, thus being his "original" or "base" form. This is the form that allows him to reach his full potential. Drastically differing from his previous transformations, in his True Form, Frieza instead regresses, with his former form cracking and shattering like a shell, becoming a sleek and only somewhat taller version of his Third Restriction form. He overall appears as a white, lizard-like, almost harmless-looking creature; his horns and spikes disappear and his physique becomes streamlined. His skin becomes pure, solid-white with purple sections on his head, shoulders, forearms, abdomen and shins. The purple lined sections on the sides of his face vanish, though the lines on his cheeks remain intact, giving his face an almost mask-like appearance. His arms, legs, cheeks, and tail is longer and white the lilac skin on his face, neck, hands, and feet. Even at the lowest levels of his True Form, he's noted to dwarf the power shown from his previous forms.

Because of his initial difficulty controlling his true power, Freeza's body is strained when unleashing too much power. As such, he would normally refrain from using this form, and even then would rely on only a small fraction of his true power. Eventually though just like Ginyu and his brother Coola, Freeza has completely mastered this form following the conclusion of his fight against Goku.

Freeza begin using this form non-stop following his epic battle against Goku. This form is the primary state Freeza uses during the Multiverse Tournament.

    True Form (100% Full Power)[]

It is believed that to access his full power state, his body will become noticeably affected by it. Once he starts charging himself, the strain of containing this untamed and immense power causes his muscle mass to greatly increase. At 100%, his body becomes broader, and his build engorged compared to his previously sleek frame. This also causes his body to grow noticeably taller, nearly equal to opponents several inches taller than him in height. With his power pushed to the absolute limit, it grants him strength and durability far greater than normal. Despite his hulking frame in this state, he should show no apparent decrease in his endurance, speed, or agility. However, due to the strain on his body, he cannot maintain the maximum capacity of it for long, slowly weakening.

Despite having this powered-up state, Freeza has yet to be seen utilizing it. Freeza has admitted that he needs a few minutes at least to fully complete the ascension.[67]

    Augmentation Form[]

    Freeza First Augmentation State

    Freeza First Augmentation Form

This is Freeza's most powerful form. Heavily resembling his own father when in his own augmentation form, Freeza gains many additives compared to his Original Form. The most striking changes is that Freeza becomes taller and more muscular. His natural armguards become enlarged and two small spikes grow out from his back. Like other users, Freeza gains a face mask and his eyes become pure red with the sclera becoming black.

For most of his life until the end of the Third Round in the Multiverse Tournament, Freeza didn't possess this form. When Emperor Vegeta fought against Dr. Raichi, he was surprised he had the potential to learn the form at all. It was achieved after getting possessed by Babidi and having his latent potential drawn out. Freeza so far has only used this form once, which was during his battle against Piccolo from Universe 18 during the Majin Invasion. He has yet to be seen in it without being Majinized.

    Forms (Former)[]

    Majin[]

    Main article: Manipulation Sorcery
    Freeza Majin

    Majin Freeza

Freeza achieves this state after being possessed by Babidi of Universe 11. Like other users, Freeza gains shadow trims around the eyes, bulging veins around his body, and even a slight increase in muscularity. Most notably, he has a Majin symbol on his forehead. He has only been seen in his True and First Augmentation states.

Freeza only possessed this form during the Majin Invasion. His sole opponent was Piccolo, which he died from during combat. Like other users, Freeza has permanently kept the power up after being revived.

    Transformations (non-canon)[]

    Majin Perfect form[]

In the minicomic 30 Years After DBM, Freeza attains an incredibly powerful form named Majin Perfect Freeza.[65]

    Duck Form[]

Before Freeza could destroy the entire multiverse as Majin Perfect Freeza, Bra uses her newly acquired reality manipulating powers to transform Freeza into a duck. Freeza was subsequently killed by SSJ5 Son Bra.[65]

    Equipment & Technology[]

    Hover Pod[]

The Hover Pod is a floating, spherical-shaped vehicle used by Freeza as a means of transportation. Even though he is extraordinarily powerful and perfectly capable of walking and flying, Freeza seems to prefer using the hover pod as a means of getting around, even inside his own spaceship. The reason for this is unknown, although it is possible he sees it as a status symbol.

    Royal Imperial Spaceship[]

    Main article: Royal Imperial Ship

Freeza's royal spaceship and his main method of transportation, which is capable of interstellar flight. It is large enough to house Freeza and his soldiers during travel. Even during the Multiverse Tournament, Freeza brought it with him and prefers to sleep there rather than inside of the apartment. It also possesses a Healing Tank to help rejuvenate those in critical condition.

    Battle Armor[]

Specialized armor that is worn to help protect the user from external attacks. Freeza wore in all of his Third Restriction form appearances. But during his battle against Goku, Freeza discarded it and never wore it again.

    Trivia[]

    • Besides King Piccolo across multiple universes, Freeza is the second known to person to ever kill an Eternal Dragon when activated. In his case he killed Porunga before he could grant his first wish.[29]
